PASC Risk Management Background Check Policy
Per US Youth Soccer, EPYS, and the state of Pennsylvania, anyone having routine interaction with children as part of our soccer program is required to complete and submit mandated clearances and complete specified training. All board members, paid coaches, paid administrators, and volunteer coaches are mandated to comply. In addition, PASC requires individuals in titled leadership roles to comply, as well as anyone granted access to member files and contact information as part of their service to the Club. Clearance Requirements/GotSport Instructions
First, log onto your GotSport account.
There are EIGHT clearance documents/procedures you need to obtain/complete to be in compliance.
1) Complete your GotSport profile. Fill in any missing information in your profile and upload a clear headshot.
2) PA Child Welfare History
Good for five years. Go to www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home to complete the process if your certificate expires before 11/1/2024. [Note: Use a laptop or desktop with Chrome or Edge for best results.]
3) FBI Clearance
A) Affidavit. If you are an unpaid volunteer who has lived in PA for 10 continuous years, use the affidavit. It's good for five years — you will need to upload a new certificate if your current cert expires before 11/1/2024.

B) Fingerprint Check. If you are a paid coach, paid staff member, OR a volunteer who DOES NOT live in PA or who has not lived in PA for the past 10 years continuously, you need to provide an FBI Background (fingerprint) check. The clearance is good for five years — you will need to obtain a new certificate if your current cert expires before 11/1/2024.

4) PA State Police Criminal History Check
Good for five years. Go to https://epatch.pa.gov/home to complete the process if your certificate expires before 11/1/2024. [NOTE: the site has specific limitations for which browsers you can use to submit a request.]
5) Concussion training (30-minute online course)
Needs to be updated annually (certificate must be valid through 11/1/2024).You can access the training through your GotSport account.
6) Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Risk Management. This is an online form you'll fill out on your GotSport profile page.
7) SafeSports Certification (90-minute online course)
Go to uscenterforsafesport.org/ngb-services/training/ to complete the online course. As an EPYS member, you do not have to pay to complete the course: email [email protected] for the free access code and directions. If you completed this last year, you can take the (shorter) refresher course.
