Director of Coaching


Phoenixville Area Soccer Club (PASC) is seeking an outstanding individual to lead its soccer program as Director of Coaching (DOC). This is a salaried position that reports to PASC's Soccer Committee. Hours will include weeknights throughout the year and weekend hours during the Fall, Spring, and Winter soccer seasons. This individual should have unquestioned personal integrity, technical expertise, a focus on staff development, an ability to manage people and solve problems, and the drive to embrace and enhance PASC's club culture.
The DOC's responsibilities include:
Soccer Programming:

  • Manage and oversee PASC's soccer programming, promoting a common training methodology and a clearly articulated style of play across all programs and age groups. 
  • Attend PASC Soccer Committee meetings supporting the management, development, and expansion of PASC's soccer program.
  • Provide written DOC Report for PASC's monthly Board of Directors' meetings and attend BOD meetings when warranted.
  • Create team itineraries, including training schedules, league placements, and tournament participation.
  • Determine and provide Travel and IM field/facility needs for training and games to Executive Director and Facilities Director.
  • Schedule and manage team formation and player selection process for travel tryouts.
  • Conduct/attend parent meetings before and after tryout/team selection.
  • Develop and monitor standards and expectations for all PASC coaches.
  • Oversee player development, including the design of player development curriculum 
  • Identify opportunities for college showcases and ODP preparation for interested/qualified players.
  • Manage and sustain growth and player retention in PASC programs.

Coach Management:

  •  Manage day-to-day coach operations, including:
  • Oversee the Assistant Director of Coaching.
  • Respond to and resolve all subcontractor coach inquiries.
  • Partner with the IM Program Director in creating and communicating IM coaching program for recreational/volunteer programs.
  • Respond to and resolve parent/player/coach conflicts.
  • Oversee the development, evaluation, and hiring of all new (subcontractor) coaches.
  • Oversee the scheduling, staffing, and running of clinics, camps, and additional soccer programs as performed by Zone Directors. 
  • Observation and assessment of travel coaches to measure performance, including attending training sessions and games to provide feedback to the coaching staff and documented seasonal coach evaluations.
  • Assist in seasonal player evaluations.
  • Conduct and implement monthly coaches’ meetings during Spring and Fall seasons.
  • Coach one to two teams through Spring, Fall, and Winter seasons.
  • Summarize and report subcontractor staff and ADOC activities, including absences and notable incidents, to the PASC Soccer Committee.
  • Actively pursue professional development through conferences, clinics, licensing, etc., and encourage/facilitate the same for subcontracted coaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a USSF "C" License or USC Equivalent
  • Minimum of three years coaching experience at the club, high school, or college level, preferably in a leadership position 
  • Experience with organizational management, verbal and written communication, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement in unusual or new situations
  •  High-energy team player able to lead by example, collaborate, and supervise
  • Self-starter able to work efficiently and independently
  • Demonstrated computer and Microsoft Office skills

 Compensation: $42,000-50,000 annually. Incentive bonus development available.

Travel Coaches 
Phoenixville Area Soccer Club (PASC) is looking for motivated, qualified coaches who emphasize player development, teamwork, and creating a positive training environment to coach in its travel soccer program. This part-time contracted coach will report to the Assistant Director of Coaching and the position requires weeknight and weekend hours during the winter and spring soccer seasons (Jan-June 2020).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Head Coach/Pool Coach in U9-U15 travel program
  • Conduct training sessions and manage games
  • Responsible for individual and team development
  • Work with DOC to support and develop players
  • Communicate with parents about player and team development
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a USSF "D" License or USC Equivalent.
  • Coaching experience at the club/high school/college level, preferably in a leadership position.
  • High level of playing experience (college or professional preferred).
  • Demonstrated organizational, managerial, and communication skills
Compensation: Competitive, dependent upon experience and team assignment.
